Ingredients
    Custard
  • 3/4 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 4 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Layers
  • 3 bananas, sliced (use ripe bananas for best flavor)
  • 1 of vanilla wafers
Instructions
    Custard Preparation
  1. Banana puddingIn a large saucepan, mix sugar and flour. Gradually stir in milk over medium heat. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
  2. Banana puddingReduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
  3. Gradually stir about one cup of the hot filling into the beaten egg yolks. Return all to the saucepan; bring to a gentle boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  5. Layer the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish with vanilla wafers. Top with a layer of sliced bananas. Pour a portion of the custard over the bananas. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, ending with a custard layer.

  6. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until set, before serving.
