Bobó de Camarão is a rich and creamy Brazilian shrimp stew that combines the flavors of fresh shrimp, cassava, coconut milk, and a mix of fragrant spices and herbs, offering a unique taste experience.
Ingredients
    For the Stew
  • 1 kilogram large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cassava, peeled and chopped (Also known as manioc or yuca)
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 2 palm oil (Or olive oil as a substitute)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic, minced
  • 1 cup bell pepper, chopped (Preferably red)
  • 1 cup tomato, chopped
  • 1 cilantro, chopped
  • 1 ground black pepper
  • to taste salt
Instructions
  1. Prepare the CassavaShrimp BobóBoil the cassava in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.
  2. Cook the VegetablesShrimp BobóIn a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and tomato, cooking until soft, about 10 minutes.
  3. Combine IngredientsAdd the mashed cassava, coconut milk, and half of the cilantro to the pot. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the ShrimpAdd the shrimp to the pot and cook until they are pink and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. ServeServe the Bobó de Camarão hot, garnished with the remaining cilantro. Enjoy with rice or by itself.
