  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped (medium size)
  • 2 garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 4 vegetable broth
  • 2 whole peeled tomatoes (14.5 ounces each, with juice)
